Windmill Crossing: The Location

This community is located near the intersection of Highway 385 and 100th Street in Odessa. In the early 1900s, four local families, the Barrows, the Ratliffs, the Smiths, and the Wights, established homesteads near this area. Often, the Barrow children would make the 3.5-mile trek to the Ratliff ranch to see the family pony. When they did so, it’s said that Mrs. Ratliff would climb the tower of her windmill and watch for the children to ensure they arrived safely, hence the name “Windmill Crossing.”

Homeowners in Windmill Crossing will appreciate the community's close proximity to Highway 385 and Loop 338, making their morning commute a breeze! Students living in the community will attend Jordan Elementary School, Wilson & Young Middle School, and Permian High School.
